Before entering USC in the Fall of 2012, she taught at a small elementary school for 22 years.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA long-time writer of prose, Vogel began writing poems in her forties and since then her work has earned nominations for the Rona Jaffe Writers' Award, the \u003cem\u003eBest New Poets \u003c\/em\u003eanthology, the AWP Intro Journals Project, and the Pushcart Prize. Vogel's translation from French into English of Andrée Chedid's 1956 poetry sequence, \"In the Noon of Contradictions\" was selected for the 2014 Willis Barnstone Translation Prize.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eVogel was awarded a 2013 fellowship to travel to Tours, France, where she was invited as a visiting poet to work with students at L'École des Beaux-Arts. She has also been invited to read at San Francisco's Conservatory of Flowers and at Beyond Baroque Literary Arts Center in Los Angeles.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eVogel earned her MFA in the low-residency program at Ashland University, and her poetry, translations, essays, and reviews have been published in \u003cem\u003eFIELD, Jacket2, Plume, Anamesa, Poet Lore, The Offending Adam, Puerto del Sol, ZYZZYVA\u003c\/em\u003e, and the \u003cem\u003eSeneca\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003eColorado, Manchester\u003c\/em\u003e, and\u003cem\u003e Atlas\u003c\/em\u003e reviews, among others.
